Hydrotech selected to replace competing technology
In 2014, Södra Cell AB Paper Mill in Värö, Sweden, invested 4 billion SEK in a major expansion aiming at increasing significantly the production capacity. As part of the upgrade, Hydrotech was contracted to supply and install an intake water plant. In replacement of Passavant filters, three HSF2614/12-2F Hydrotech discfilters with 40 µm filter elements were installed to treat 2 000 l/sec of intake water from the local river, Viskan. Not only did the production capacity increase, but the quality of the water was also improved thanks to a smaller filter cloth opening size (from 150 µm to 40 µm). In addition, the power consumption of the installation decreased dramatically, reaching 0,001 kWh/m3 at medium load. The installation was made during full operation using the same installation area as before the upgrade.
